Step 1: Sign Up

1. Visit the official Coinbase website.
2. Click the Get Started or Sign Up button.
3. Fill in your personal information:
   • Full name
   • Email address
   • Password
   • State or country of residence
4. Click Create Account.

Step 2: Verify Your Email

1. Check your email inbox for a verification message from Coinbase.
2. Click the verification link inside the email.

Step 3: Secure Your Account

1. Coinbase will prompt you to set up 2-factor authentication (2FA) for additional security.
   • Download an authentication app (e.g., Google Authenticator) or use SMS authentication.
2. Enter the code provided by the app or via SMS.

Step 4: Verify Your Identity (KYC Process)

1. Coinbase will ask for further identity verification to comply with regulations (Know Your Customer – KYC).
2. Provide the following details:
   • Date of birth
   • Address
3. Upload a government-issued ID (Passport, Driver’s License, or National ID).
4. Take a selfie or follow on-screen instructions to upload a picture for verification.

Step 5: Link a Payment Method

1. Go to Payment Methods from your Coinbase account dashboard.
2. Choose one of the available payment methods:
   • Bank account (ACH in the U.S., SEPA in Europe)
   • Credit/debit card
   • PayPal (in some regions)
3. Enter the necessary payment information to link your account.

Step 6: Purchase Bitcoin

1. From your Coinbase dashboard, click Buy/Sell.
2. Select Bitcoin.
3. Enter the amount of Bitcoin (BTC) you want to buy.
4. Choose your linked payment method.
5. Confirm the transaction, and you’ll see the Bitcoin in your wallet.
